5月6日上午9：00，富布莱特学者Kif Augustine Adams应文法学院法律系邀请，在东校区教301举办题为“American Tort Law and Personal Responsibility: Standards versus Rules”的讲座。讲座由薛长礼教授主持，法律系40多名研究生参加。

Kif教授从探讨侵权责任法的立法目的开始，引导同学们思考侵权责任法各项制度设计的目的与原因。之后，Kif教授向同学们介绍了美国最高院与部分州法院的司法判例，讲解了法律原则而非规则在判例法国家的适用问题，并比较了中美两国司法制度的不同。以法律原则裁判案件，可以充分把握个案事实的复杂性与多样性，结合具体情况进行个案判断。Kif教授的讲座逻辑清晰，内容丰富，从案例入手鲜活生动。讲座结束后，同学们与Kif教授进行了深入的互动交流，提出了很多具有现实意义的问题，Kif教授都一一作答。

此次讲座开拓了同学们的国际视野，加强了对外交流。参加此次讲座的同学们都表示受益匪浅，对侵权责任法以及美国的司法制度有了更深刻的理解，也激发了更浓厚的专业兴趣，希望以后有更多机会与世界知名院校的专家学者交流。
 
Kif Augustine Adams教授简介：Kif Augustine-Adams is a Fulbright Distinguished Lecturer at Renmin University of China Law School during the 2013-2014 academic year.  Until July of this year, she served as Associate Dean for Research and Academic Affairs at her home institution, J. Reuben Clark Law School, Brigham Young University, where she is also the Charles E. Jones Professor of Law.  She graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School.   In 2003, she spent six months as Fulbright Fellow affiliated with the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina. During the 2007-2008 academic year, she was as a visiting professor at Boston College Law School.  From September through October 2009, she taught torts at the Peking University School of Transnational Law in Shenzhen, China.  She regularly teaches torts, feminist legal theory, and critical race theory.  Her research focuses on citizenship, immigration, race and gender.  Her most recent project explores the Chinese diaspora in northern Mexico in the early 20th century.
