Microorganisms are beneficial in environmental biotechnological applications, such as in bioreactors or environmental systems to achieve a wide range of remediation results. Dr. Liu’s research focuses on:

a) Investigating the potential applications of engineered bioreactors for the remediation of oil sands process-affected water (OSPW);

b) Energy neutral municipal wastewater treatment;

c) Evaluating the applications of anaerobic processes in waste treatment and energy production;

d) Studying nutrient recovery processes from wastewater;

e) Evaluating the potential adverse impacts of emerging contaminants on the microorganisms in biological treatment processes.

报告人简介：

Yang Liu is an Associate Professor in Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at University of Alberta, Canada. Dr. Liu’s research interests are centered in the general area of environmental biotechnology, with topics ranging from the basics of bacterial adhesion, biofilm formation processes, to their applications in engineering in the forms of microbial aggregates and biofilms.
