Title:  Some energy methods for viscous conservation laws

Abstract:  Taking some typical examples in the field of viscous conservation laws, we introduce several elementary energy methods to obtain a priori estimates for the solutions.

Lecture I Global asymptotic stability of constant states for the generalized Burger's equation620日上午1030-1200

First, we show a standard theory of how to construct the time-global solutions by combining the local existence theory together with the a priori estimates. Then, we introduce an energy method to obtain a priori estimates without using the maximal principle. Finally, we proceed to the case where the viscous term is nonlinear, like a non-Newtonian fluid.

Lecture II Asymptotic stability of viscous shock waves for the generalized Burger's equation 620日下午1600-1730

First, we recall the arguments on the existence of the viscous shock wave and how to reformulate the original problem to a spatially integrated one. Then, we show an energy method which manipulates a weight function as a function of the viscous shock wave itself. Then, we proceed to the case where the viscous term is nonlinear.

Lecture III Asymptotic stability of stationary solutions for the generalized Burger's equation on the half space 621日上午1030-1200

First, we recall the arguments on the existence of the stationary solution. Then, we introduce an energy method which manipulates not only a weight function but also a transform function, both of which are functions of the stationary solution itself, say "double step energy method".

Lecture IVAsymptotic stability of viscous shock waves for the viscous p-system621日下午1600-1730

First, we roughly recall the known results on the asymptotic stability of viscous shock waves. Then, as an application of the "double step energy method", we specially pick up the case where the viscous coefficient is depending on the density, we show how to construct the transform and weight functions to obtain the desired energy estimates.
