题目：电影“007”与变化中的不列颠民族：历史、幻想与怀旧（007 and a Changing Nation: History, Fantasy, and Nostalgia）
内容提要：What does the distorting lens of popular culture reveal about the world in which it takes shape? My lecture will respond to this question through a consideration of Ian Fleming’s fictional MI6 agent, James Bond. 007’s imaginary career began in Fleming’s first novel less than a decade after the end of the Second World War and continues in a highly successful series of blockbuster films to this day. During this time, the character has become well established as a nationalist hero, an iconic representative of Britain, even as the nation itself has undergone profound changes. For over sixty years, through a variety of iterations and a potent mixture of history, fantasy, and nostalgia, the figure of James Bond has reconciled the competing demands of tradition and innovation as Britain has adopted a new global role as a post-imperial power and redefined social relations within its own borders.
